Budzik Children's Hospital was raised by the charity foundation ""AKOGO"" which helps mentally injured children to come back to normal life. Our main goal was to design comfortable and functional interior for small patients and for their families. The building itself does not provide much natural lightning, so we had to design the interior in a way that utilizes every bit of it, in order to create a friendly and calm space.

The configuration of rehabilitation and utility rooms was very important. We had to provide easy access to all equipment and patients, as well as paths to move them between their sleeping and rehabilitation rooms. Materials we used for the interior were selected specially to create safe and comfortable climate. We combined wood with warm colours of the walls. Vertical layout of the wood panels in the main hall and in the core of the building optically enlarges the tight space.

From the main core of the building we enter into patients rooms where we used warm and bright colours to enhance the natural light. Safety bumpers in contrasting colours protect the walls from accdental damage when moving beds or other equipment. We also designed rooms for the patients' families to let them stay over night, and a small sanctuary where they can calm their minds.
